Aaron Finch completes 2000 T20I runs
Due to injury concerns, Finch and Australia were forced to make some adjustments in the second T20I. Nathan Ellis, who was injured, was replaced by Daniel Sams, while Josh Inglis was replaced by bowling all-rounder Sean Abbott.
The match administrators chose to play an eight-over match after a soggy outfield caused delay of more than two hours. After winning the toss, Team India decided to bowl first.
Before the game, Finch needed seven runs to reach the milestone and he did so with a stunning cover drive for a four against Hardik Pandya in the opening over of Australia's innings.
In the 2nd T20 International between Australia and India at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur, Finch scored 31 runs in just 15 balls at a strike rate of 206.67. Later, Jasprit Bumrah used a wicket-breaking yorker delivery to send him back to the pavilion.
Before Axar Patel rattled his wicket in the first T20I at Mohali's PCA Stadium, Finch had scored 22 runs. With Cameron Green, who produced a match-winning 30-ball 61, he shared a 39-run opening wicket partnership and hammered three fours and one six.
Finch will also be in charge of the Australian side in the T20I World Cup 2022, in the months of October and November. Finch and his squad won the tournament last year for the first time after defeating New Zealand in the final in Dubai.
