Deepak Hooda created a unique record on Saturday (20 August) after India's clinical victory by five wickets in the second ODI against Zimbabwe.

Since his international debut earlier this year, Hooda has been a talisman for the Indian team.  In his presence in the Playing XI, 'Men in Blue' have registered 16 wins on the trot, which is the most by any cricketer after their debut.

So far, the 27-year-old has featured in seven ODIs and nine T20Is, with all of them resulting in India's win.

Earlier, Romanian international Satvik Nadigotla held the record of being part of 15 consecutive victories. On the other hand, David Miller and Romania's Shantanu Vashisht have a winning streak of 13 matches apiece.

India secure a series victory with proficient all-round performances

Invited to bat first, Zimbabwe succumbed to pressure against the talented Indian pace attack. Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/38 to help the visitors to dismiss Zimbabwe for a total of 161.

Afterwards, skipper KL Rahul could not contribute in a hefty fashion at the top-order. However, Shikhar Dhawan (33) and Shubman Gill (33) again came to the rescue of the Indian team.

In the end, Hooda (25) and Sanju Samson (43*) helped India to cross the line and also take an unassailable lead of 2-0.

The last game of the series will be played on Sunday (August 22) at Harare.
