Mercurial batting talent Shubman Gill set the pace for Gujarat Titans at the top of the order alongside opening partner Wriddhiman Saha. 

Chasing 207 to defeat CSK in match number seven of the IPL 2024 season, the two openers shared 28 runs in less than three overs off Deepak Chahar and Bangladesh-based seamer Mustafizur Rahman.

In the opening over of the run-chase itself, Gill picked up a length delivery and launched Chahar straight back over the long-off region for a massive six.

Gujarat Titans captain and opening batsman Shubman Gill signalled his aggressive intent in the first over of the innings itself when he launched Deepak Chahar over long-off for a soaring six.

Gill danced down the track, picked up Chahar's length delivery, and whacked it through the line straight over the bowler's head to finish the opening over of the high-octane run chase in style.

Wriddhiman Saha also listed four flourishing boundaries in the next couple of overs off Mustafizur Rahman and Deepak Chahar as Gujarat Titans raced to 28-0 in just 15 deliveries.

Unfortunately for the Titans, Deepak Chahar soon packed up Shubman Gill and Saha in succession, as the visitors slipped to 34-2 at the Chepauk Stadium.

Earlier in the match, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK unit scored 206-6 from their 20 overs, thanks to Rachin Ravindra's 20-ball 46 and Shivam Dube's marvellous 23-ball 51. 

Lower-order batters Sameer Rizvi and Ravindra Jadeja also slapped handy contributions in the death overs of the high-scoring CSK innings.
