Many were looking forward to the batting of Prithvi Shaw, who was in action for the first time in IPL 2024 on Sunday (March 31) during Match 13 of the IPL 2024 in Visakhapatnam. And he delivered, scoring 24 runs off his first 15 balls to give Delhi a perfect start in the Powerplay.

Of course, David Warner was equally impressive from the other end, smashing 35 off 22 balls in this period.

The highlight of Shaw’s knock was how he was thrashing Mustafizur Rahman, one of CSK’s main bowlers, during the sixth over of DC’s innings.

After opting to bat, Shaw’s carnage began with a boundary off Mustafizur, which was incidentally a free hit. Then he blasted two more fours on the next two deliveries, making it a hat-trick of fours.

Shaw, who made his IPL debut in 2018, scored only 106 runs across eight innings last year, with an average reading of 13.25. Therefore, it was a statement knock by Shaw, which has taken DC to 80/0 at the end of eight overs. Shaw, at the time of writing, is batting on 32* off 20 balls.
