Moeen Ali did not get a game in CSK's first three games of IPL 2024 as five-time champions preferred Kiwi duo of Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell in their playing XI. However, an unexpected injury to Matheesha Pathirana and absence of Mustafizur Rahman opened gates for Moeen Ali and he has delivered with his handy off-break.

He got the big wicket of Aiden Markram who batted beautifully for his 50, and CSK badly needed his wicket to derail SRH's charge.

 The wicket of Markram came on the final delivery of the 14th over and it was a fuller delivery on the off-stump line. Aiden Markram tried to reverse-sweep it, however, he missed the ball and it hit him on the pads as CSK players appealed in unison. The umpire obliged and raised his finger immediately bringing some much-needed relief in CSK camp. 

Markram did review it but it went in vain as the Ball Tracking showed three reds. The wicket of Markram was followed by another wicket of Shahbaz Ahmed, but it was little too late for CSK, as SRH got over the line in the 19th over.

Earlier, CSK scored 165 while batting first with Shivam Dube top scoring with 45 off 24 balls. In reply, SRH top order got off to a flying start and slammed 78 in the Powerplay to put the home team well ahead in the game. 

Markram came out to bat at 3 and played a fluent knock of 50 off just 36 balls, but he could not finish the game and that is something he would like to do going ahead this season.
