[Watch] Kane Williamson ‘Frustrated At Himself’ After Holing Out To Bairstow In IPL Return

Kane Williamson, who last played in the IPL in the last season's curtain raiser between CSK and Gujarat Titans, returned to the playing XI for the first time on Thursday (April 4) in Match 17 of the IPL 2024 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. However, he made little impact with the bat, scoring 26 off 22 balls before holing out to Jonny Bairstow off Harpreet Brar.

After Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and asked the Titans to bat first, Harpreet bowled a short delivery outside the off stump in the ninth over of Gujarat's innings. The Kiwi skipper wanted to cut past the backward point, but the ball went straight into the safe hands of Jonny Bairstow. In the process, the Kings got their second wicket after dismissing Wriddhiman Saha early.

Williamson, who came as a replacement for David Miller, was in excellent touch until losing his wicket. Needless to say, he failed to live up to the lofty expectations after failing to convert his start into a substantial score. Of course, Williamson did not like the way he was dismissed, and the frustration was evident on his face.

Meanwhile, the Titans are in a great position, posting 84/2 after 10.1 overs, with Shubman Gill batting on 29* off 19 balls. Sai Sudharsan, on the other hand, is batting from the other end, on 12* off 7 deliveries.
