Delhi Capitals all-rounder, Axar Patel found himself at the center of a crucial moment in the match against Punjab Kings. With his team banking on him to steady the ship, Patel’s untimely runout dealt a severe blow to DC’s aspirations.

In the 18th over, as Patel eyed a couple of runs to bolster the score, his hopes were dashed by a swift fielding manoeuvre and a pinpoint throw that left him short of his crease.

The decision to review the runout was prompted by Jitesh Sharma's lack of confidence, and upon scrutiny, Patel was adjudged to be out. This dismissal disrupted DC's momentum and potentially altered their projected total by a significant margin.

The match, staged at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mohali, saw Shikhar Dhawan’s Punjab Kings winning the toss and opting to field first. Despite boasting a formidable overseas player lineup featuring the likes of Mitchell Marsh, David Warner, Shai Hope, and Tristan Stubbs, DC struggled to capitalise on their batting performance.

With both DC and PBKS yet to clinch an IPL trophy and only three final entries between them, the pressure to perform in the new season was palpable. The return of Rishabh Pant after a car accident and Shikhar Dhawan after a hiatus added to the anticipation surrounding the match.

Earlier in the day, Pant's comeback innings of 18 runs was cut short by Harshal Patel, while David Warner's aggressive start was halted by Patel's impressive bowling display.

As DC posted a score of 174 runs, Punjab Kings need to maintain their dominance to turn the tide in their favour.
