India had a magnificent start against Sri Lanka on Sunday in the Asia Cup final at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Mohammed Siraj led from the front, claiming 6/14 off his first six overs to rattle the Lankan Lions in their own backyard.

Jasprit Bumrah struck early, removing Kusal Perera in the opening over, while Hardik Pandya took the final wicket at the time of writing. In between, Mohammed Siraj tore the Sri Lankan batting unit apart in a contest which seemed a disappointing one-sided affair.

While Siraj has been making headlines since the beginning of the all-important finale, Hardik Pandya got his first wicket of the day in his second over of the day. The star all-rounder bowled a well-directed bouncer targeting at Dunith Wellalage’s chest, and the Sri Lankan youngster was too late to tackle it, resulting in him popping it up in the air.

The ball lobbed up and came down behind the wicket, KL Rahul did the formalities to complete the catch.

There is nothing new of the bromance story of KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya, and the duo were in action to end the stay of Wellalage, who has been arguably the most promising youngster in the tournament.

At the time of writing, Sri Lanka are 50/8 after 15 overs, with Dushan Hemantha and Pramod Madushan in the middle.
