Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam had the crowd on its feet with his elegant batting prowess during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 Qualifier 1 against Multan Sultans in Karachi on Thursday.

Opting to bat first, Babar, alongside opener Saim Ayub, wasted no time demonstrating why he's regarded as one of cricket's finest. He particularly displayed his exceptional wristwork, which has become the envy of bowlers worldwide.

Wrist magician Babar Azam strikes consecutive boundaries

The highlight of his batting came in the fifth over while facing Chris Jordan. Babar Azam's wrists worked like magic wands, conjuring consecutive boundaries, much to the delight and awe of the spectators gathered.

His first four was a delicate flick off Jordan's delivery, threading the ball past short fine leg for a four.

Not resting on his laurels, Babar immediately followed up with a scintillating shot, whipping a fullish delivery with iron-wristed grace past mid-wicket for another boundary, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing, Peshawar Zalmi were 55/2 after seven overs. Babar is at the helm, steering the ship with a solid 27 off 22 balls, including four boundaries. His performance hints at a looming storm, ready to unleash a torrential downpour of runs.

On the other hand, newly arrived at the crease, Haseebullah Khan is just beginning to find his feet with two runs. Notably, the departure of Saim Ayub early on for just one run and Mohammad Haris being dismissed for a brisk 22 has set the stage for Babar to anchor the innings.
