Brief Scores: India Under-19: 259-9 (50 overs) [Adarsh Singh: 62 (81), Uday Saharan: 60 (98); Mohammad Zeeshan 4/46 (10), Ubaid Shah 2/49 (10)] lost to Pakistan Under-19: 263-2 (47 overs) [Azan Awais: 105* (130), Saad Baig: 68* (51); Murugan Abhishek 2/55 (9)] by eight wickets.

Pakistan Under-19 punted their Indian counterparts at the ICC Academy Oval in Dubai to register their second successive win this 2023 Under-19 Asia Cup. The outcome also helped them secure a top spot on the Group A points table.

Adarsh, Saharan, Dhas 50s take IND to 259

Opener Adarsh Singh top-scored with a fluent 62 and shared a crucial 93-run third-wicket stand with captain and fellow half-centurion Uday Saharan. Pakistan’s new-ball bowler Amir Hassan and his pacemate Mohammad Zeeshan scalped important breakthroughs throughout the first half of the innings, with the latter picking two more scalps in the death overs to finish his spell at 4-46.

Middle-order batter Sachin Dhas also bludgeoned an attacking 42-ball 58 as India surged to 259-9 from their 50 overs.

Besides Hasan and four-fer recipient Zeeshan, Ubaid Shah and Arafat Minhas also chipped in with key wickets in their respective spells. The Indian batting line-up, on the other hand, featured no significant contribution apart from the three half-centurions of the innings.

Awais smacks ton as PAK hunts down target with ease

Pakistan U19 opener Shahzaib Khan listed a cautious 63 from 88 balls at the top after losing his partner Shamyl Hussain to Indian tweaker Murugan Abhishek. The off-spinner also curtailed Khan’s threatening stay at the crease before number three Azan Awais formed an unbeaten match-winning alliance with captain Saad Baig for the third wicket.

Awais went on to smack ten boundaries in his 105-run epic, while captain Baig blasted 68* from just 51 balls as the ‘Boys in Green’ gunned down the Indian total with eight wickets and three overs to spare.
