In what could be the penultimate time that Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be seen going up against each other on the field, the first match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Chennai Super Kings (RCB) and Royal Challenger Bengaluru (RCB), witnessed a heart-warming moment between the two legends.

During the start of the high-voltage encounter, Kohli would be embracing Dhoni in the middle, where both cricketers could be having laughter. Dhoni and Kohli, who have played for India and also against each other in IPL, share a great camaraderie both one-and-off the field. 

Speaking about the contest, Dhoni has already made his mark in the field, contributing with two caught-behind, which has left the RCB camp quite dampened early into the innings. Dhoni's first catch came off Rajat Patidar, who edged a simple catch to the former captain, while Glenn Maxwell in a similar fashion handed an easy catch to the legend. 

Kohli, who came out to open, is batting with caution, having seen the top-order collapse after RCB skipper Faf Du Plessis provided the franchise a near-perfect start, having elected to bat first after winning the toss. 

Unfazed, Kohli has also crossed the milestone of 12,000 T20 runs, reaching the mark in 360 innings, which is second-fastest. As of writing, RCB are 63 for 3, with Kohli batting alongside Cameron Green, who is making his franchise debut.
