Gujarat Titans will face Punjab Kings on Thursday (April 4) in Match 17 of the IPL 2024 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. 

While the Titans are coming to this fixture after a seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Punjab had two back-to-back losses, against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), respectively.

The Titans, under their brand-new leader Shubman Gill, kicked off IPL 2024 with a hard-fought six-wicket win over five-time title-winners Mumbai Indians. However, they failed to carry on the momentum, losing to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) comprehensively by 63 runs, before regaining the momentum with a resounding seven-wicket victory over SRH.

The Titans would like to see their skipper Gill fire against his native state-based franchise. The flamboyant batter had scores of 31, 8, and 36 so far, which, safe to say, is pretty much below-par performances from the previous edition’s Orange Cap winner.

Punjab Kings

On the other hand, Punjab defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by four wickets to begin their IPL 2024 journey in style. After that, they lost the plot, resulting in humiliating back-to-back losses, which simultaneously sent them to the bottom half of the points table.

Punjab’s biggest plus is the substantial impact of Sam Curran, who has been performing extremely well with both bat and ball. In addition, Shikhar Dhawan’s rich vein of form, coupled with exceptional bowling from Harpreet Brar, has been bringing smiles to ardent Punjabi fans. However, they need so much more collectively in order to be among the contenders who are eyeing playoffs.
