Gujarat Titans will go head-to-head with Punjab Kings on Thursday (April 4) in Match 17 of the IPL 2024 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. This will be the contest where Shubman Gill, the skipper, will take on his native state, Punjab, for which he plays in India’s domestic circuit.

Having won twice in three attempts, the Titans have a pretty decent start in IPL 2024 under Gill’s captaincy. They still haven't settled on a core in their playing XI, or, in other words, haven't found their balance.

Of course, losing Mohammed Shami in IPL 2024 was a massive blow for the Titans, given how impactful the veteran had been in the previous edition and the ODI World Cup. And his like-for-like Umesh Yadav, who became the hero in their tournament opener, hasn’t been consistent, which may lead Ashish Nehra-led think tank to launch Kartik Tyagi, who announced his arrival with sheer pace before Mayank Yadav’s arrival.

Having got Azmatullah Omarzai and Darshan Nalkande already, the Titans have two excellent options who can deliver with the new ball. While Noor Ahmad and Rashid Khan are the ones who can take care of the middle overs, an X-factor such as Kartik being with Mohit Sharma could be impactful for the IPL 2022 champions.

Among the batsmen, there is little chance of any changes, with Gill continuing to be at the top alongside Wriddhiman Saha, followed by Sai Sudarshan, David Miller, and Vijay Shankar.
