The second T20I between India Women and Australia Women on Sunday evening at Dr. DY Patil Stadium witnessed records being broken on multiple fronts.

With a 1-0 lead, India went into the encounter high in confidence but eventually failed to repeat their performance from the 1st T20I and conceded the encounter to Australia by six wickets, who managed to level the series.

For India, all-rounder Deepti Sharma created history, with both bat and ball, becoming the first-ever women's player from the nation to score 1,000 runs and claim 100+ wickets in T20Is.

Before the encounter, Sharma sat on 971 runs and 110 wickets, which after the game became 1,001 and 112. The 26-year-old scored a crucial 30 off 27 and claimed two Australian wickets during the course of the T20I.

Interestingly, Sharma also became the first Indian bowler to pick 100 T20I wickets, which she achieved during the ICC T20 Women's World Cup 2023. With 112 wickets, Sharma is also the leading wicket-taker for India in the format across both men's and women's cricket.

The Agra-born has been having a stellar run of late, starring for India in both Tests against England and Australia, respectively, and in ODIs versus the latter.

In the one-off Test against England, Sharma notched up knocks of 67 and 20 and attained match figures of 9 for 39 to help India win a memorable encounter.

The T20I series decider will be played on January 9, at the same venue on Navi Mumbai, which on Sunday had a capacity crowd of 42,618.
