Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH) have had a decent start to the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) as they have won two of the four games played in the tournament so far. However, the franchise suffered a massive setback as Wanindu Hasaranga, leg spinner, was ruled out with a left heel injury and the team will not have the services of the spinner in the cash-rich league

SRH has bought Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, the Sri Lankan cricketer, as the replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga. 


Who is Vijayakanth Viyaskanth?

SRH has bought Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, the Sri Lankan cricketer, as the replacement for injured Wanindu Hasaranga for the remainder of IPL 2024. The 22-year leg spinner from Sri Lanka has represented his country in a solitary T20 International till now. 

The leg-break bowler from Sri Lanka has played 33 T20 matches and scalped 42 wickets. He made his debut in International cricket last year in Hangzhou against Afghanistan. 

He has played franchise cricket and represented MI Emirates and Chattogram Challengers in the Bangladesh Premier League. He has also played for Jaffna Kings in the Lanka Premier League (LPL). 

Sunriser Hyderabad will play its next fixture against Punjab Kings on April 9, 2024.
