Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Virat Kohli found himself in the midst of controversy during a recent match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens Kolkata. The star batter's dismissal in the third over of the second innings sparked a heated debate over the umpiring decision.

Facing KKR's Harshit Rana, Kohli was given out, leading him to refer the decision to the third umpire. Despite replays being inconclusive, the on-field decision stood, resulting in Kohli's departure from the crease after scoring 18 off seven balls.

Kohli's frustration boiled over as he engaged in a fiery argument with the on-field umpires, visibly displeased with the decision. This confrontation escalated further when Kohli, in a moment of anger, refused to shake hands with the umpires after his dismissal—a moment captured and circulated widely on social media.

The incident did not go unnoticed by the IPL authorities, who fined Virat Kohli 50 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.

According to the IPL statement, Kohli's actions constituted a level one offence under Article 2.8 of the Code of Conduct, to which he admitted guilt.

While controversies are not uncommon in the high-stakes world of cricket, Kohli's reaction underscores the intense emotions players experience during competitive matches.
