A unique record was created during the Andhra Pradesh vs Railways match of the Col C K Nayudu Trophy 2023-24. The YS Raja Reddy ACA Cricket Stadium in Kadapa saw a historical and one of the most difficult records to achieve as yet another Indian batter smashed six sixes in an over.

The Andhra team opening batsman and wicket-keeper Vamshhi Krrishna recently smashed six sixes in an over against the Railways spinner Damandeep Singh. The match began as Andhra won the toss and chose to bat first.

The opening duo K Nikhileshwar and Vamshhi Krrishna began with a good partnership, which was soon broken as K Nikhileshwar departed after scoring 20 runs. Vamshhi Krrishna led Andhra towards a good total as he scored a magnificent century.

However, Krrishna’s century did not become the main highlight of the game, as it was overshadowed by his unique milestone of scoring six sixes in an over.

Vamshhi Krrishna smashed all the six sixes towards the off-side as he raised his bat towards the dugout as the squad members cheered for him. Vamshhi Krrishna ended his knock at a score of 110 off 64 deliveries after hitting nine boundaries and smashing 10 gigantic sixes. He was dismissed by Toufik Uddin after being caught by K T Marathe.

The Andhra team scored 378 runs after being dismissed in 93.5 overs which was later long overthrown by the Railways as they declared the innings at a score of 865/9. The match was drawn as Railways took the first innings lead.

India’s Glorious History of hitting six sixes in an over

Previously, only two Indian cricketers have managed to achieve this milestone of hitting six sixes in an over. The first was India’s former head coach Ravi Shastri who achieved this feat while playing for Bombay against Baroda in the Ranji trophy.

The other was one of the greatest Indian batsmen Yuvraj Singh, who smashed six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad after a verbal spat with Andrew Flintoff during the ICC T20 World Cup 2007.
