Sourav Ganguly to play one-off fundraising game in Legends League Cricket

In a remarkable turn of events, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly confirmed his participation in the second season of Legends League Cricket (LLC) yesterday. 


Ganguly will play one fundraising match in the league as a part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, a programme initiated by the Indian Government to celebrate 75 years of independence. 

On Friday, Ganguly admitted to gearing up for the mega event, posting his training pictures on his Instagram handle with a caption that read, “Enjoying the training to get ready to play for one-off charity fundraising game for azadi ka mahatsov..75 years of Indian independence and also for women empowerment with the top legends of the legends league cricket @llct20 need to hit some cricket balls soon.”

Mr Raman Raheja, CEO and Co-founder of LLC, thanked Ganguly for playing in the decorated league for such a divine cause. He also reverberated the stylish southpaw’s cricketing legacy and expected him to amaze the spectators with his gorgeous stroke play in the match. 

"We thank legendary Sourav Ganguly for playing a match with other legends. Once a legend, always a legend, Dada is always there for cricket. And he will play a special social cause match, which is going to be a spectacular view for our audience. We hope to see some iconic Dada shots," Raheja said. 


Legends League Cricket, which will bring many stalwarts of the game back on the field, starts on September 20.
