In the latest turn of events, Punjab Kings have parted ways with former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer, who served as their batting consultant in the last season of Indian Premier League.

Jaffer was appointed as the batting coach in 2023 under head coach Trevor Bayliss. However, with Sanjay Bangar now serving as the franchise’s cricket director, Jaffer's role became redundant, as Bangar, formerly India’s batting coach, will continue in the same capacity with PBKS.

Notably, prior to the commencement of IPL 2023, Punjab Kings underwent a major staff overhaul, appointing Trevor Bayliss as head coach in lieu of Anil Kumble. The franchise also added Charl Langeveldt as the bowling coach and Brad Haddin as the assistant coach.

The 2023 IPL season proved to be challenging for Punjab Kings, as they fell short of advancing to the knockout stages once again, having been eliminated in the group stage itself. Out of their 14 matches, the Men in Red could only manage six wins while succumbing to defeat in the remaining eight.

Ahead of the upcoming season, Punjab Kings are looking forward to a solid performance. Unlike last year, English wicket-keeper batter Jonny Bairstow is likely to join the team this time, further bolstering their side, already studded with star players like Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran and Kagiso Rabada.
