In the whirlwind of Yashasvi Jaiswal's meteoric rise in Indian cricket, one figure looms large: Rohit Sharma. With a bat like a magician's wand and a demeanor of calm authority, Sharma's influence extends far beyond the boundaries of the cricket field.

In a candid interview with IndianExpress, Jaiswal opened up about the profound impact Sharma has had on him, both as a cricketer and as a person.

Jaiswal reflected on his recent series against England, where he etched his name in the annals of cricketing history with staggering performances, especially with his phenomenal double hundred against the once fearful 'Bazball'.

The young prodigy's admiration for his captain was palpable as he recounted Sharma's reassuring words. It is within the confines of the dressing room that Sharma's influence truly shines and Jaiswal paints a vivid picture of camaraderie and mentorship, revealing:

"It’s so good to have him there inside the dressing room. It has been great to play under him. There are a lot of moments which I don’t want to disclose at the moment. Let it be with me. The way he backed players throughout this journey, the way he talks, the way he bats. Whatever happens, he will be there to stand by you. I think it’s incredible to see that in your leader. I will keep learning from him."

From backing players in their darkest hours to leading by example with his impeccable batting, Sharma embodies the qualities of an exemplary leader.

Both Yashasvi and Rohit will next be seen in action in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024 where they will meet one another but this time in different teams, as Mumbai Indians take on Rajasthan Royals on April 1st.
