Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf has resumed training, just weeks prior to the launch of the 2023 World Cup in India. The 29-year-old picked up a niggle during his side’s Asia Cup 2023 Super Four clash against arch-rivals India, which subsequently sidelined him from the remainder of the tournament.

Rauf’s fitness issue also kept his World Cup 2023 participation in doubt. However, it seems like the fast bowler might attain full recovery just in time to don the Pakistan colours at the quadrennial event.

Haris Rauf resumes training, Naseem still doubtful starter

Pakistan speed demons Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah both picked up injuries during their Asia Cup 2023 match against India in Colombo earlier this month. While Rauf has showed first signs of attaining full recovery just in time for the 2023 World Cup, young Naseem continues to remain a doubtful starter for the tournament.

Rauf was seen bowling during a recent indoors training session, thus giving Pakistan’s injury-ravaged team management some relief on their road to India.

Naseem Shah, on the other hand, coped shoulder injury in the same match to raise much alarms within the Pakistan camp. The youngster has already been advised some rest and might well miss out on Pakistan’s initial World Cup 2023 fixtures.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to unveil their team’s composition for the tournament. Regardless, the ‘Men in Green’, under Babar Azam, are slated to commence their World Cup campaign with a match against Netherlands on October 6.

The much-awaited contest will be hosted by the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
