The highly anticipated T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the USA, is just over a month away. With the squad announcement deadline set for May 1, former cricketers are actively crafting their ideal Indian squads for the global event.

Joining this trend, Sanjay Manjrekar recently named his World Cup squad, making some surprising omissions and inclusions.

Notably absent from Manjrekar's squad are Virat Kohli, Rinku Singh and Hardik Pandya, raising eyebrows among fans. Further scrutiny reveals the absence of Shubman Gill and Shivam Dube, with unexpected additions like Harshit Rana and Krunal Pandya making the list.

Manjrekar's selections include bold choices such as Sanju Samson, KL Rahul, and the elder Pandya. Additionally, uncapped fast bowlers Mayank Yadav and Harshit Rana found a place in the squad, edging out top contenders like Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar.

Advocating for a youthful Indian squad, Manjrekar advocates for captain Rohit Sharma to open alongside emerging talent Yashasvi Jaiswal.

He envisions a robust middle order featuring Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, and KL Rahul.

For the pace-heavy unit, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Avesh Khan, Harshit Rana, and Mayank Yadav are poised to lead, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will spearhead the spin department.

As the anticipation builds, the senior national selectors are expected to convene in Mumbai this weekend to finalize the 15-member Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
