According to emerging reports, veteran Indian batter KL Rahul will likely be preferred over Sanju Samson for the second wicket-keeper slot in India's T20 World Cup squad. As the Press Trust of India reported, Rahul could be the front-runner in booking a ticket to the Caribbean and the United States for the marquee event. 

The plot thickens as the Ajit Agarkar-led men's selection committee contemplates an additional bowling option. The competition is fierce, with Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi battling it out for a coveted spot in the squad. 

So, in short, it will be interesting to see whether India go with Avesh's hit-the-deck bowling or Bishnoi's leg spin on the West Indies' tracks. 

Furthermore, the selectors are apparently thinking to form a strong bowling core, comprising Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav. Experienced cricketer Ravindra Jadeja will likely make it into the team as the primary spin all-rounder. 

Regarding Rahul and Samson, both players have been impressive with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2024. While Rahul has amassed 302 runs, including two fifties, Samson has struck eight runs more than him at a blistering strike rate of 152.43. 

However, considering they have played at the top order in the IPL this season, it will be interesting to see who the management prefers for the mega event.
