Jonny Bairstow Set To Dropped Ahead Of His 100th Test? Coach Baz Drops A Bombshell

England is reeling from a colossal shock after suffering a devastating defeat in the third test against India, one of the largest margins in the history of test cricket. The match witnessed England's dramatic collapse on Day 4, leading to a staggering loss by 434 runs. The magnitude of the victory is beyond what even India might have envisioned.

Amidst these tumultuous times, the England Cricket Board is considering a reshuffle in their batting order. Recent reports suggest that England is contemplating replacing Jonny Bairstow in the middle order due to his lack of performance, not only against India but also in other series.

The Yorkshire based player has been a shadow of himself in the last six innings. The modern day Test batter has failed to score a half century in the last six innings with his best score being 37. He has amassed a total of 102 runs in six innings.

Despite questions surrounding his position in the middle order, the team's coach, Brendon McCullum, remains optimistic about Jonny Bairstow's performance in the upcoming games.

“I don’t have concerns over him. I’m not blind but he’s done so well for us and he’s had such an impactful career,” McCullum said.

“We know a top-quality Jonny Bairstow is as good as anyone in any conditions so we’ve got to keep on giving him confidence and block out a lot of the external noise. I’m sure Jonny will come good,” the English head coach added.

Despite England trailing 2-1 in the series, McCullum believes that Bairstow will prove to be a valuable asset. He emphasized that Bairstow has produced significant scores in the past and reassured that the 34-year-old's place is not under immediate threat.

Is there any other option for Brendon McCullum instead of Jonny Bairstow?

The English squad is grappling with minor injuries, and several players are currently struggling for form. With Jonny Bairstow's position in question, there is only one batsman in the squad who could realistically replace him in Ranchi. Dan Lawrence emerges as the sole viable option that McCullum has at his disposal.

England will play in the fourth Test at Ranchi starting from 23rd February, aiming to salvage the test series after finding themselves trailing behind the hosts.
