Jasprit Bumrah Equals Umesh Yadav In 'This' Special IPL Bowling Record

Following another emphatic finish to a Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians clash, Jasprit Bumrah makes another record as he equals Umesh Yadav's record of the most Player of the Match awards for a pacer in the Indian Premier League history with number 10 to his name.

How Bumrah turned the tides for MI

Bumrah who has been firing on all cylinders this IPL once again proved to be the game-changer for MI in another close match. While defending 192 in Mullanpur, which initially looked like a chasable target midway through the game, Bumrah started his spell with a world-class yorker to get Rilee Rossouw.

Rossouw's wicket was followed by captain, Sam Curran's wicket to end the same over as he tried to flick one on the leg side. The pacer was convinced that the ball brushed Curran's bat and the decision was reviewed after being given not out at first.

Again, when Shashank Singh was taking off alongside Ashutosh Sharma, Bumrah came in and dismissed the in-form batter on the very first ball of his third over. He capped off his spell with just 3 runs off his fourth when Ashutosh was going hammer and tongs and PBKS just required 28 from 24.

He ended his spell as the best bowler of the day with 3/21 and was adjudged the Player of The Match.

Bumrah matches Umesh in this IPL record

With two POTM awards in three games, he equalled Umesh Yadav's IPL record of the most awards for a pacer with 10 to their names. He has done this in 19 fewer innings and is followed by his mentor Lasith Malinga with 6 to his name.

Looking at the career stages that both Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah are in, it is more than likely that Bumrah will cap off his career while holding this record all alone.

Mumbai Indians will next face table-toppers, Rajasthan Royals away from home at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Monday, April 22.
