I think it would be unfair with Shan to play him at the fifth or sixth spot: Babar Azam

Pakistan batsman Shan Masood was recently named the captain of Derbyshire Falcons in the 2022 T20 Blast. Masood, the all-time leading run scorer in the Pakistan Super League, has been making his mark in the local English first-class competition. He was the top run scorer for the Derbyshire county championship team with 844 runs in his account.

The Pakistan opener has gathered the attention of the Pakistan chief selector. Mohammad Wasim stated that Masood has been in conversation to be picked as a middle-order batsman for the Pakistan white ball squad.

"Shan Masood isn't far away from the Pakistan team. He is a part of the red-ball squad as the third opener, and he's close to the white-ball squads," stated Wasim

Captain Babar Azam has expressed his discontent with Wasim's statement. However, Azam believes that it would be unfair to Masood to bat down the order.

"Shan Masood bats at the top of the order, and he has not batted lower down the order. I think it would be unfair with Shan to play him at the fifth or sixth spot. We have an eye on him and will be considered viewing the balance of the side."

Although Wasim explained that the consideration was made in lieu of the fact that Pakistan already have a top-notch batting lineup in white ball cricket.
