Veteran Indian batter Virender Sehwag picked his playing XI for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the United States.

In an interesting move, the legendary ex-cricketer dropped ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya from the combination, replacing him with either Rinku Singh or Shivam Dube.

Since joining Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya's career has turned upside down. The premier all-rounder, who replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of the team before the mini auction, has amassed only 151 runs at a mediocre average of 21.57.

He hasn't impressed with the ball either, scalping only four wickets in eight matches. Probably, his poor performance is the reason why Sehwag opted to exclude him from his World Cup XI.

Speaking to Club Prairie Fire podcast, Sehwag picked Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal as his openers, followed by Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav as the number three and four, respectively.

The Nawab of Najafgarh chose Rishabh Pant as his wicket-keeper, with either of Rinku or Dube as the finisher alongside spin bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Kuldeep Yadav makes it into Sehwag's XI as the lead spinner, with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Sandeep Sharma spearheading the pace attack.
