David Miller announced as the skipper of Paarl Royals in SA20 league

Proteas left-handed superstar David Miller has been appointed as the skipper of the Paarl Royals franchise in the inaugural season of the SA20 league to be held in January. All the six teams in South Africa's newest competition were bought by IPL teams, among which Royals is also a part.

Miller was signed by the Royals franchise as one of their marquee picks along with Jos Buttler, Obed McCoy, and Corbin Bosch


What Miller said on his appointment

"It makes me immensely proud to have been appointed as the captain of the Paarl Royals. To be able to call it my home, gives me great joy. The people of Paarl and the Western Cape as a whole are great supporters of quality and entertaining cricket, and my ambition will be to lead the team in the right manner and give our fans countless memories to cheer their team on."

The left-hander had a fruitful IPL season this year for Gujarat Titans, one of his bests, where he was the sixth-highest run-getter in the tournament with 481 runs from 16 matches, helping his team to lift the trophy.

The southpaw ended his stint with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL after Gujarat snapped him up in the 2022 auction. Furthermore, Miller is also the skipper of the Barbados Royals side in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) who are currently are the table toppers with just one loss from seven matches.
