In a setback for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans, Devon Conway, the Kiwi opener, has been sidelined from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to a left thumb fracture. Initially expected to return for the latter part of the tournament, Conway's injury proved more severe than anticipated, forcing him out of the entire IPL season.

The CSK opener's absence leaves a significant void in the IPL franchise lineup, as he has been a standout performer for the team in the past two seasons of the tournament.

With 924 runs in 23 matches, including nine half-centuries, his contributions have been pivotal to CSK's success, notably in their fifth IPL title victory where he played a crucial role in the finals against the Gujarat Titans.

Despite his injury, Conway remains committed to his cricketing journey. Reports suggest that he has joined CSK for rehabilitation and to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

At 33 years old, Conway holds a key position in the New Zealand national team and is eager to represent his country in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to commence on June 2 in West Indies and the USA.

While his availability for the IPL 2024 playoffs remains uncertain, Conway's focus lies on regaining full fitness and form ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.

His dedication to recovery and preparation underscores his determination to excel on the global stage, aiming to make a significant impact for New Zealand in the T20 format.

Cricket fans eagerly await his return, hopeful for his swift recovery and success in the upcoming tournament.
