IPL 2024 is moving towards the business end, and in the 42nd match of the season, we have Kolkata Knight Riders going up against Punjab Kings. KKR have won five out of their seven games so far while Punjab Kings have won just two out of their eight games. The battlefield will be the iconic Eden Gardens, and let's see how both teams go about their business.

Punjab Kings are coming into this game on the back of four straight losses and were without their regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan. His leadership and batting credentials are crucial for PBKS, but there is still a cloud of uncertainty over his availability.

In his absence, PBKS management has decided to go with stand-in skipper Sam Curran at the top of the order. Curran himself has done decently, but the batting order as a whole has not fired, and the likes of Prabhsimran Singh, Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma all have been guilty of throwing their starts.

The duo of Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma have done the heavy lifting but it is high time their top order fire which includes Rilee Rossouw who replaced Bairstow couple of games back. Even if Shikhar is not fit, Sam Curran can drop down the order and Atharva Taide can replace Harpreet Singh.

On the bowling front, Punjab Kings have done quite well but Rabada disappointed in the last game when things were quite even-stevens, and there is an option of Nathan Ellis as well, who bowls well at the death.

However, given the quality of Rabada, he is likely to get a go-ahead again, and Punjab would be hoping that they change their fortunes with a big win against Shreyas Iyer and Co.
