Rohit Sharma has announced his return to form in Test cricket by smashing a stunning century against England on the opening day of the third Test. India were reduced to 33-3 but Rohit kept his calm and mixed caution with aggression beautifully to take India to safer shores. In the process, he also became the oldest Indian captain to score a Test century.

Rohit made his debut as a middle order batter but could not feature regularly in Test cricket for India as a middle order batter. However, the move to make him a Test opener in 2019, changed his fortunes and since then, Rohit has delivered some big Test performances.

Rohit Sharma became Test captain in 2022 and now in 2024, he is India's oldest captain to score a Test century. He also surpassed Sourav Ganguly in the list of leading run-getters for India in Test cricket.

In this five-match Test series against England, Rohit did not deliver to his billing in the initial two Tests, but has stepped up in the third. He along with Ravindra Jadeja took India to safer shores and captain Rohit would be hoping that India win the Rajkot Test and take lead going into the fourth Test at Ranchi.
