The opening match of India at the Asia Cup, which was against Pakistan, got washed out because of rain after the innings of the Indian team. Both teams were given one point each, and with this point, Pakistan became the first team to qualify for the Super 4s.

It had been raining the whole week in Pallekele, so undoubtedly, the captains would be going to bat first. The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, did what every captain would do in this situation and opted to bat first.

The weather allowed the pace attack of Pakistan to terrorize the Indian batters and took all the ten wickets. The frontline batters of India were in the dug-out after ten overs courtesy of Shaheen and Haris's lethal bowling. It was Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya, who made a partnership of 138 runs and helped the Indian team reach a respectable total of 266.

The rain did not allow any action for the second innings and the match was called off.

India's Super 4 Qualification Scenario

From Group A, Pakistan has qualified for the Super 4s as they won their first game which was against Nepal. Now, the qualification of India depends on their game against Nepal, which is on Monday.

For India to make it to the Super 4s, Rohit and his men will have to win the match against Nepal. The net run rate will not affect India's chances as they are already one point ahead of Nepal. So a simple win for India will guarantee a place for them in the Super 4s. Even if rain interrupts again, then also India will be through to the Super 4s of the Asia Cup 2023.

India will probably play Pakistan again on the 10th of September after reaching the next stage of the tournament. Hoping we could get a full match without any interruptions on the 10th of September.
