Recently, New Zealand Cricket announced a formidable 16-man squad, including a reserve pacer, for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the United States. Veteran batter Kane Williamson will lead the side, which is an amalgamation of experience and youth.

Despite missing most of their key players due to IPL 2024 commitments, the BlackCaps recently exhibited prolific form in the shortest format, securing two clinical victories over Pakistan to draw a five-match series.

However, with the core group returning, New Zealand are certainly looking ruthless on paper. So, as they gear up for the T20 World Cup, let's analyse and find out what could be their best combination heading to the tournament.

Destructive batter Finn Allen is all set to open the batting for New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Despite New Zealand having Rachin Ravindra in the squad, the Kiwis will prefer Devon Conway for the second opener's slot owing to his consistency and experience.

However, if Conway doesn't impress the team management, Ravindra will eventually make it into the XI in the latter phase of the event.

Skipper Kane Williamson will bat at his preferred number three slot and anchor the innings. He will be followed by the dynamic all-round duo of Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips, who are expected to be key players for the Kiwis in the final two phases of the game.

Mark Chapman could be the first-choice for the number six slot as New Zealand team management has always backed him at international level.

He will be followed by ace all-rounder Mitchell Santner, who can win matches on his own through his incredible ability with bat and ball.

The lethal duo of Tim Southee and Trent Boult will spearhead New Zealand's new ball bowling. As they have two quality new ball operators, the Kiwis will likely prefer Lockie Ferguson for the third seamer's role, considering his ability to bowl in the slog overs.

Meanwhile, Ish Sodhi will be the lone wrist-spinner, forming an effective spin bowling unit alongside Santner.
