With several major cricket events coming up, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is soaking in all the experience from the ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 while turning up for Colombo Strikers.

Azam, who is playing his first T20 League competition outside Pakistan, explained his reasons behind featuring in LPL 2023, which will help him adapt to subcontinental conditions better with Asia Cup 2023 and Cricket World Cup 2023 on the horizon.

The Asia Cup 2023 will be held across Pakistan and Sri Lanka, while CWC 2023 will take place in India.  So far, in three LPL matches, Azam has slammed 107 runs with one solitary fifty.

As quoted by Crictracker, the 28-year-old star batter further highlighted how he wants to do well for Strikers, who have a good squad with a balance of youth and experience.

Here's what Azam said

"Whenever you play different leagues, in different conditions you end up learning a lot. I try my level best to perform well. I adapt to different conditions while facing different bowlers from Asia because we have a lot of cricket coming up in Asia. We have Asia Cup, the Afghanistan series and the World Cup as well. I will try to focus, adapt to the conditions, and face good spinners to prepare for these upcoming big tournaments."

Strikers led by Niroshan Dickwella will be in action tonight, when they take on Dambulla Aura at Pallekele. Colombo have one win and two losses, while Dambulla have notched up two wins and as many losses.

Post LPL, Azam will lead Pakistan in a three-ODI series against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka.
