In match No.22 of the Indian Premier League(IPL) Chennai Super Kings (CSK) gear up for a showdown against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 8, 2024, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. 

MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir are the two most successful leaders in IPL history. Under the astute leadership of MS Dhoni, the franchise has clinched the IPL trophies five times. And on the other under the leadership of Gambhir KKR won the IPL trophy in 2012 and 2014.

But after displaying the leadership roles the two veteran players have different roles to represent. While Dhoni is still one of the pillars of CSK as a player, Gambhir is mentoring Kolkata Knight Riders. Over the years the two stalwarts of the Cricket had done great for their teams in the Indian Premier League. 

Gautam Gambhir Opines On MS Dhoni's Captaincy

Ahead of the much-anticipated clash, Star Sports shared a video featuring Gautam Gambhir, mentor of KKR speaking highly of Dhoni, and he also called him the most successful captain India ever had. 


"I want to win. I am very clear in my mind. There are people, yes. Friends, mutual respect, everything is different. Everything will always remain, but then, when you are in the middle, I am captaining KKR, he is captaining CSK, and if you ask him, if he was here instead of me, he will also say the same answer, it's about winning. I want to get back in a winning dressing room," Gambhir said on Star Sports. 

He also expressed admiration for MS Dhoni and his authoritarian record as the Indian Captain. He also stated that no one could reach his level in terms of the trophies he won for the country.  

"MS Dhoni is probably the most successful captain India will ever have. I don't think anyone can ever can reach that level, winning three ICC trophies. People can win overseas, people can win as many Test matches, but it cannot get bigger than three ICC trophies," he added.

The Kolkata Knight Riders is placed second in the points table winning three consecutive matches. And on the other hand, CSK has faced up and down in the IPL 2024 season so far winning two matches out of four and is placed fourth on the points table.
