The Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) recently announced their new central contracts list, which excluded players like Shreyas Iyer, and Ishan Kishan, who have been regular for the last few years with the national side.

With the board issuing diktat about players needing to play domestic cricket for a Team Indian consideration, speculations regarding the ouster of the duo from the list gained momentum.

Former India player Robin Uthappa, who is known for his outright opinion stated that the 'truth' must come out in public behind such decisions.

Iyer, who has been plagued with injuries, opted to miss the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, however, after getting his name dropped from the BCCI contracts, turned up for Mumbai and featured in the semi-final and finals.

On the other hand, Kishan, who took a mental break from the sport, did not play a single match for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy 2024 and is seen preparing for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

As quoted by Hindustan Times, Uthappa, explained how everyone including the fans, cricketers, and broadcasters, want to know the truth, which could make things much more easier for the concerned players with all the speculation being avoided.

'I also like to know what the truth is' - Robin Uthappa

"I think we as individuals and as perhaps today, I see myself on your side of the table as well. As a broadcaster, I also want to know answers. I also like to know what the truth is. Having said that, we won't know what the truth is, unless it's spoken by the stakeholders of this piece, and that is the players themselves and the ones involved with the players themselves, and that's the captain, the coaches, support staff.

"I think we'll only keep speculating about all of it until we hear from these players in particular or from the selectors in particular. And I think we can all speculate as much as we want. But for me, I would like to reserve till I actually know for sure what's happened and what transpired it," Robin Uthappa.

Meanwhile, Iyer displayed grit and determination during his stellar 95-run knock in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 Final, helping Mumbai post a mammoth target for Vidarbha.
