The star Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan expressed his concerns regarding the national side's preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. He also added that the team is not playing and testing themselves against the top teams.

The 37-year-old cricketer also believes that Bangladesh should prepare themselves against top-fight teams and manage their international and domestic schedules differently to get a better scope of preparation for the upcoming marquee tournament.

Bangladesh are currently playing a five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe and after this, they will take on the United States in Houston ahead of the T20 World Cup.

The all-rounder also referred to the T20 World Cup 2022 and stated that Bangladesh had prepared themselves playing a tri-nation series with New Zealand and Pakistan as a part of their preparation.

So, ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 the Bangladesh team and management should have planned better and played against big teams as their preparation.

"In the last World Cup we performed reasonably and though we didn't do extremely well no one will say we did bad. If that is our benchmark then we have a chance of crossing it in this World Cup and if we want to do that we have to win three matches in the first round,". In Australia (T20 World Cup in 2022) we went after playing against New Zealand and Pakistan and so certainly we went to the World Cup on the back of very good preparation and taking that into consideration this is not ideal. But this is the best we can as far as preparation is concerned," he added.

Shakib Al Hasan Blames BCB For Organising DPL In 50-over Format

Shakib Al Hasan also blamed and stated that Bangladesh Cricket Broad (BCB) should have organised the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) in the T20 format in the shorter format instead of completing it in the usual manner to avoid the weather conditions in Bangladesh.

The stalwart also exclaimed that this league would have provided a better platform for the players to practice for the T20 World Cup.
