Whenever an emerging wicket-keeper batsman is rising through the ranks, the first name that pops into everyone’s head is none other than MS Dhoni. Rajasthan Royals’ Dhruv Jurel is the newest sensation in town, and no wonder; his comparison with India’s most successful captain has taken the world by storm.

Recently, one of India’s icons of the game, Sunil Gavaskar, lauded Jurel with the highest remark, saying the young wicket-keeper batsman is ‘next MS Dhoni in the making.’ However, while speaking at India Today Conclave 2024, Jurel gently rubbished the comparison between him and Dhoni, while thanking Gavaskar for his tag.

In addition, Jurel said there is only one MS Dhoni, and he would love to make a name for himself.

"Thank you so much Gavaskar sir for comparing me with Dhoni sir but I want to say personally that no one can replicate what Dhoni sir has done, there is only one Dhoni - always was & always will be, for me, I just want to be Dhruv Jurel," the 23-year-old said at India Today Conclave 2024.

Jurel, who hogged the limelight in India’s recently-concluded five-match Test series between India and England, will don the Rajasthan Royals jersey in the IPL 2024. The Sanju Samson-led franchise will kick off the proceedings by taking on Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, March 24.
