The T20 World Cup is knocking at the door, and India has just announced a 15-member squad. Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the captain, and Hardik Pandya has been named as the vice-captain of the team.

Along with this, several other notable players have been named in the squad with the return of Rishabh Pant after facing the sidelines due to a car accident, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, and several certain names, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, have been included.

In the press conference, a question that was raised by the media was about not including Rinku Singh in the 15-man squad for the upcoming World Cup in June, which will jointly be hosted by the USA and the Caribbean.

Rinku Singh Excluded From The T20 World Cup: Reason Revealed

In the post-selection press conference, Ajit Agarkar the chairman of selectors, said that Rinku Singh has done nothing wrong in the IPL. He also revealed that the team wanted to have enough options regarding wrist spinners.

Chahal and Kuldeep will do the job of wrist spinners and Axar Patel will play as an all-rounder. The 26-year-old cricketer has been kept as a travelling reserve with the team.

"It was the toughest thing to discuss. Rinku has done nothing wrong, same with Gill. It was all about the combination we wanted. Wanted to have enough options with regards to wrist spinners. Chahal, Kuldeep give us that. Axar Patel is the allrounder and then two wicketkeepers. He is still one of the travelling reserves. We thought it would be better to pick another spinner," Agarkar on Rinku Singh.

In the ongoing IPL, Rinku has failed to live up to the lofty expectations, scoring only 123 runs in 9 matches at a strike rate of 150.00.
