'She's Obviously A..' - Alyssa Healy On Heated Face-Off With Harmanpreet Kaur In Mumbai Test

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and visiting Australian skipper Alyssa Healy were involved in a heated exchange on Day 3 of their one-off Test match at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in late December.

The incident occurred during the 80th over of the Australian innings, with captain Healy batting at the crease alongside Annabel Sutherland. Having employed herself to bowl against the two well-set Australian batters, Harmanpreet fired a throw back at the striker’s end after Alyssa had charged down the wicket for a front-foot defence.

Harmanpreet’s aggressive throw deflected the Australian skipper’s bat and raced towards the boundary instead, thus igniting a verbal face-off between the two cricketing veterans.

Alyssa Healy plays down Mumbai feud with Harmanpreet

While speaking with the reporters after the match, the Australian captain played down her dispute with Harmanpreet Kaur. She described herself and Harmanpreet as passionate cricketers and claimed that such incidents tend to occur during high-octane games between teams like Australia and India.

"I don't necessarily think there is a rivalry. I think that we're just two cricketers going at it. That's basically the way that I'd sum it up. She's obviously a passionate cricketer, so am I. That's what happens when Australia plays India. It's a good, hard contest. Yesterday was just probably an example of that," Healy said.

Remarkably, Harmanpreet Kaur trapped Alyssa Healy in front of stumps the very next delivery to curtail her 100-ball stay at the crease for 32. Healy’s dismissal worsened Australia’s troubles at 221-5 at the brink of stumps on Day 3.

Team India eventually won the match by eight wickets early on Day 4, with senior opener Smriti Mandhana (38*) and Jemimah Rodrigues (12*) hitting the match-winning runs to seal the honors.

Under Healy, Australia Women will now face their Indian counterparts in a three-match ODI series between December 28 and January 2. The ODI fixtures will be followed by a set of three T20I matches in Navi Mumbai.
