'Seemed Like A Fish Market': Aakash Chopra Takes Dig At Incident Involving MCC Members & Usman Khawaja

The controversial dismissal of Jonny Bairstow on Day 5 of the second Ashes 2023 Test witnessed unprecedented scenes in the Lord's Long Room, where members of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) confronted players of the Australian cricket team, who were on the way to the dressing room.

As many as three MCC members were seen getting involved in a verbal spat with opener Usman Khawaja, who, along with David Warner, had to cut off from the crowd after the cop's intervention.

The MCC, since then, has issued an apology to the Australian team and has suspended all members involved in the incident.  Now, former India opener Aakash Chopra has likened the Lord's Long Room situation on Day 5 to that of a 'fish market'.

Chopra, on his YouTube channel, expressed his discontent over the whole incident, saying that as long as the law is being upheld, no one should have any problem.

Here's what Chopra said

"There was almost a scuffle-like situation in the legendary Long Room at Lord's. What does this mean and where does it go from here? It is a big question because if you are seeing this at the home of cricket, then it is a bit of a problem. It seemed like a fish market."

"They were making so much noise for that one run-out when the Australian players were going upstairs. If you have been given out rightly based on the law, that is where the debate must end but it did not end there and that's the problem."

Interestingly, the Lord's Cricket Ground is the home of MCC, who are the custodians of cricket.

Nevertheless, Australia have gained a 2-0 lead in the Ashes 2023, with the caravan to move to Headingley, Leeds for the third Test match to be played between June 6-10.
