'Play On Jaiswal's Ego' - England Batter On How To Dismiss Yashasvi Jaiswal In Test Cricket

Former English head coach David Lloyd recently gave an unusual advice to the English squad and skipper Ben Stokes to dismiss India’s young opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal in the upcoming third Test match of England’s tour of India. India and England will lock horns in the 3rd Test match from 15 to 19 February at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

David Lloyd believes Yashasvi Jaiswal will prove to be a great red-ball cricketer in future considering he doesn’t have a weakness despite being a 24-year-old. He advised Ben Stokes to recall his master plan to trap Shreyas Iyer in the second Test in Visakhapatnam and implement similar strategies to dismiss Jaiswal by discussing it with his off-spinner.

David Lloyd suggests a perfect trap to dismiss Yashasvi Jaiswal in 3rd Test

In his recent columns, David Lloyd wrote,

"Jaiswal is a dasher all right but he doesn't have an obvious weakness, so I would be thinking slightly outside the box and rather than bowling the left-arm spinner against him with the new ball, I would be tempted to persevere with the off-spinner, placing temptation in the deep. I would like to see England play on Jaiswal's ego a bit more."

He further added,

“You need to keep your catchers around the bat in subcontinental conditions but you also need one or two fielders hovering in strategic positions where he likes to hit the ball. Dangle him a carrot by posting a deep midwicket and a deep mid-off, but two-thirds rather than all the way back to the boundary. Recall the trap Stokes set for Shreyas Iyer in the second Test.”

The game in Rajkot will mark the hundredth Test match of England’s captain Ben Stokes, while both the squads have been struck by injuries of key players. The following will also be a decider which will give the winning team a lead in the 5-match Test series.
