'He is one of the best white ball bowlers'- Dinesh Karthik

Rauf's early days were marked by humble beginnings, playing tennis ball cricket while juggling his studies and a part-time job as a salesman. Far from the limelight of professional cricket, he honed his skills and nurtured a dream that seemed distant yet was pursued with immense passion.

His life took a turn when he was picked by the Lahore Qalandars which marked a pivotal transition from tennis ball cricket on the streets to the glitz and glamour of professional cricket. Rauf made his domestic debut in the 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy, paving the way for an inspiring ascent to international fame.

The right-arm pacer’s journey from humble beginnings to the top of international cricket has not only inspired upcoming cricketers but also earned him admiration from cricketing legends.

This hard-fought journey caught the eye of Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik, who praised Rauf's talent and determination by calling him one of the better white ball bowlers in the world while speaking on Sky Sports on the sidelines of The Hundred.

“Few years ago Haris Rauf was playing tennis ball cricket. Then he got picked by the Qalandars, became a part of their team, and academy and then went on to play the league. He has obviously gone on to do so well for Pakistan. He is arguably one of the better white ball bowlers going around in world cricket now, especially at the death," said Karthik.

Since his international debut, Rauf has become an essential figure in Pakistan's white-ball teams. With 62 T20Is under his belt, he has claimed an impressive 83 wickets at an average of 21.71.

The 29-year-old’s pace has been a topic of admiration, with his fastest delivery reaching 159 kmph during the T20 World Cup 2022 against England. Furthermore, in the 2023 Pakistan Super League, he bowled the fastest delivery of the tournament, clocked at 154kph.
