Ahead of the series finale against India in Dharamsala, England veteran batter Joe Root addressed the criticism and concerns surrounding his careless dismissals throughout the tour.

Root insisted on continuing with the same approach as he knows his game better than any outsider ever could.

In the ongoing tour of India, barring an extraordinary century, runs have dried up from Root's end. His dismissals have been bizarre and unlikely of his usual approach, to say the least.

Many critics opined that perhaps Root is trying to fit into the Bazball mindset. But that ultra-aggressive approach does not seem to suit the batter.

In the third Test against India, Joe Root got dismissed off a reverse sweep in the chase in what seemed an unnecessary shot in accordance with England's grave situation. It led to an imminent collapse as the visitors suffered a humiliating 434-run defeat.

Regardless of the criticism, Joe Root remains unfazed by the outside noise.

“People will have their own opinions on how I’ve got out through this series and what is best for me. I will continue playing the way I think is best for any given situation. No-one knows my game as well as I do,” Root told Sky Sports.

Regardless, Root says people are entitled to their opinions about his problematic dismissals.

“The reason I’ve got to where I’ve got to is because I’ve always looked to keep trying to get better, improve and evolve. That’s got to keep happening. If you stand still in this game, with the amount of information and analysis out there, you’ll get found out," he added.

Root added that he had achieved success in their field because he never stopped learning, improving, and evolving with the game. With advanced technology, it's impossible for players to escape with the same strategy and approach, feels Root.
