With playoff hopes diminishing at an accelerated rate, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Director of Cricket Mo Bobat has called for urgency and advised the team to treat the remainder of the tournament as a knockout stage.

RCB have lost the plot this Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season and are massively struggling to find their footing.

With 6 defeats in 7 games played, Bengaluru has slipped to the bottom of the points table with just two points and an abysmal net run rate.

Moreover, with the first half of the tournament nearing its end, RCB's playoff dreams are taking a blow with each passing day.

While the qualification scenarios look bleak, Mo Bobat refused to throw in the weapons just yet. While talking with the franchise media channel, the RCB coach admitted that RCB has fallen short of expectations this year and is nowhere close to being where they initially planned.

However, with a whole second half still on the cards, RCB will treat the remainder of the schedule as a knockout stage. Bobat stated that given that RCB manages to win 4-5 games on a trot, the competitors will become fearful.

"We're into the second half of the competition now and we're not where we want to be in the league, got to look at these like knockout games now, if we can win the next 3-4 games in a row, belief comes and people become fearful of you," Mo Bobat said.

While Bobat's optimism will invoke a sense of purpose amongst the RCB players, the reality is poles apart from the expectations.

Given the current form and composition, RCB's chances of a comeback from this stage are nearly negligible.

RCB are scheduled to face KKR next at Eden Gardens this weekend.
