Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has shed light on the dynamics of his relationship with Virat Kohli, emphasising the influence of media sensationalism on public perception.

Reflecting on their recent on-field encounter during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Gambhir addressed the media's role in amplifying controversies for ratings.

"It is all about TRPs. Media has got no clue what kind of a person I am, what kind of a person Virat is. All the media wants to do is create hype. But hype can also be created in a positive way,"  he stated.

Gambhir echoed Kohli's sentiment that people crave sensationalism, acknowledging the inevitability of media scrutiny in their lives.

"I absolutely second what Virat said. Logon ka masala nahi mila toh (The gossip bit is over for people). As I said, when two people are mature enough, I don't think so anyone has got any right to interfere between two people's life or their relationships because ultimately, it is between two of them," Gambhir further added.

However, he emphasised the importance of maturity in handling personal relationships, affirming that external interference should be unwelcome.

Despite their publicised differences, Gambhir and Kohli shared a heartfelt moment by hugging each other during the match of RCB vs KKR, challenging media portrayals of their relationship.

Talking about the matches, RCB finds itself in the 10th position on the points table, while KKR, despite losing to Punjab Kings, continues to hold onto the second spot.
