'It's A Wake-Up Call For Them': Nasser Hussain 'Slams' India After Hyderabad Loss

Nasser Hussain rubbed salt into Indian wounds after the shocking defeat in the Hyderabad Test and called it a "wake-up" call for skipper Rohit Sharma and his men as England backed their aggressive 'Bazball' tactics towards a famous win in the first match of the series.

The former England skipper lauded Ben Stokes-led visitors, who fashioned a remarkable comeback after conceding a 190-run lead in the first half.

From 163/5 in the third essay, England had young middle-order batter Ollie Pope producing a marathon 196 to conjure up a target of 231 before left-arm spinner Tom Hartley's 7 for 62 triggered the Indian downfall.

Hussain said India underplayed the England threat as the tourists showcased great "stubbornness" in sticking to their method of sweeping and reverse-sweeping against their famed spinners and turned the tables on Rohit's men.

Hussain Lauds Bazball, Urges India To Wake Up

Speaking to Sky Sports, Hussain praised England's steadfast attitude and resilience as they never gave up despite conceding a mammoth first-innings advantage and not boasting of an experienced attack up their sleeves.

"What I like about them is their stubbornness. If you doubt them, they'll double down on it and go even more stubborn. I think that is a good thing because if you're constantly listening to all the noise, all that's written and said, you flicker from one theory to another," Hussain said.

"The present regime know what they want. They're going to stick with that and even when they're behind, they will back the cricketers to turn it around. They have shown they are a side not to be messed with."

"India will probably rue their first innings. They got 436 but actually they could have got a lot more if not for some sloppy dismissals. They will come back. They are a very fine side and history tells you it will be tough for England here. But it is a wake-up call for India as England have shown Bazball can work in these conditions," he added.

The second Test of the five-match series starts on February 2 in Visakhapatnam.
