All-rounder Axar Patel is all set to make a return to international cricket after an unfortunate injury ruled the out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Patel will feature for India in the five-match T20I against Australia, which starts today after recovering from a quadriceps strain injury, that the player suffered during Asia Cup 2023.

Speaking to Jio Cinema, on the eve of the first T20I at Visakhapatnam, Patel talked about grabbing this opportunity with both hands and getting over the disappointment of missing the World Cup.

Here's what Patel said

“I was disappointed to miss the World Cup, but this is a great opportunity for me to get back into my process”.

The all-rounder faces stiff competition for a place in the XI, with Washington Sundar, and Shivam Dube also in contention. With several veterans being rested from the squad, the 29-year-old talked about camaraderie within the new-look Team India, which is brimming with youngsters.

"Team is filled with Youngsters - even though we don't have enough games before the World Cup, we need to play to our strength and develop our game".

In 45 T20Is for India, Patel has claimed 39 wickets and scored 328 runs, having made his debut back in 2015.

Apart from the T20Is against Australia, Patel will most likely play in three-match series against South Africa, and Afghanistan, respectively.
