After starting the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with losses, Australia have finally found rhythm, notching up consecutive victories and will now face the Netherlands on October 25 in Delhi.

However, the good news heading into the encounter is the possible return of opener Travis Head, who has joined the Australian contingent in Delhi, after missing the first four matches due to a broken left hand.

As quoted by ESPNcricinfo, Head, who had his first outing against sidearm in nets on Saturday, stated that he is optimistic about playing against Netherlands.

Team management is still showing no signs of rushing in the 29-year-old, and might bring him back against New Zealand at Dharamsala.

Head suffered an unfortunate injury during Australia's tour of South Africa, forcing the in-form player out of action for weeks.

Here's what Head said

"I had a really good hit yesterday. I think each session is getting better but again we've got to be mindful of the fact that I think it was five weeks [since the injury] a couple of days ago, and I sort of got told [around] that six-week mark.

Everything keeps going well, but again, it's [about] how I woke up this morning. It's how I can potentially back up tomorrow and train. Still a few things I need to tick off but I'm optimistic. We'll see what happens. If it continues on this rate, who knows. Keep doing things day-by-day to hopefully give yourself the best chance."

The batter stated that his bone has completely healed and that the batter had also started bowling.

Meanwhile, chief selector George Bailey has confirmed that Head will play as an opener whenever the cricketer returns to the XI.
