Mumbai Indians fans would have surely felt the absence of Kieron Pollard during the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Renowned for his remarkable performances against CSK, Pollard currently serves as the batting coach for Mumbai Indians (MI).
Upon his return to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya faced a wave of criticism from fans. The primary source of this backlash stemmed from the affection towards Indian team captain Rohit Sharma, who had been replaced as MI captain.
Fans blame Hardik for CSK loss
Hardik Pandya faced criticism for his bowling performance against CSK, particularly after MS Dhoni's onslaught in the final over Hardik bowled, resulting in CSK gaining an additional 20 runs. Furthermore, when it came to batting, Pandya failed to provide support to Rohit Sharma who scored a century. Pandya's dismissal for a low score added to the disappointment for Mumbai Indians fans.
Pollard backs Hardik
Kieron Pollard stepped forward to support Hardik, speaking in solidarity with him during this challenging time.
"I am fed up of [us] looking to pinpoint individuals; cricket is a team game at the end of the day. This is an individual who is going to represent the country in less than six weeks' time, and all are going to cheer him and want him to do well. So it is high time we try to encourage and stop nitpicking and see if we can get the best out of one of the great all-rounders India has produced. He can bat, bowl, and field, and has an X-factor about him,” Pollard said.
With only 2 wins out of 6 games, Mumbai Indians seem to be facing a tough patch. However, this team has a history of turning things around, having overcome difficult situations in the past. So, while the current circumstances may be challenging, it's important not to count them out just yet.
